Heavy rains lashed Punjab and Haryana on Sunday, significantly cooling the region. According to the meteorological department, the downpour caused temperatures to drop two to six degrees below normal.
Chandigarh, Mohali, Ludhiana, Patiala, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, and Ambala were among the key cities that witnessed heavy rainfall. Several areas, including Yamunanagar, Ambala, Ludhiana, and Mohali, also reported waterlogging issues.
Chandigarh received 129.7 mm of rain, while other notable measurements included Rupnagar with 64 mm, Patiala with 62 mm, and Ludhiana with 57 mm. In Haryana, Ambala clocked 82 mm, followed by Gurugram with 77 mm. The rains provided much-needed relief from the heat, bringing cooler climes to the region.
