Devastation Looms as Typhoon Shanshan Pounds Japan

Typhoon Shanshan has caused a deadly landslide in Japan, with the storm expected to bring severe weather to southern Kyushu. Weather officials predict up to 60 cm of rainfall, high winds, and waves over the next few days, particularly affecting Kagoshima prefecture, raising concerns for extensive damage.

Typhoon Shanshan has wreaked havoc in Japan, causing a fatal landslide on Wednesday and injuring several people. With weather officials issuing the highest-level warnings, the storm is expected to advance to southern Kyushu, potentially making landfall on Thursday.

Forecasts indicate up to 60 centimetres (23.6 inches) of rainfall within 24 hours, along with powerful winds and towering waves destined to hit most of the country, especially Kagoshima prefecture.

Authorities are bracing for widespread damage as Typhoon Shanshan progresses slowly across the Japanese archipelago in the coming days, heightening apprehensions about the storm's destructive potential.
