Heavy Rains Wreak Havoc in Marathwada: Over 200 Relocated, Massive Crop Damage Reported

Heavy rains have caused severe flooding in the Marathwada region, resulting in over 200 relocations and nearly 90 rescues. Significant crop damage has been reported in Hingoli and Nanded districts. The downpour has affected 2 lakh hectares of land, with fatalities reported and extensive damage to property and livestock.

Heavy rains have caused widespread flooding in Maharashtra's Marathwada region, leading to the relocation of more than 200 residents and the rescue of nearly 90 others. The continuous downpour since Sunday has severely affected Hingoli and Nanded districts, with more than 2 lakh hectares of crops damaged and four lives lost due to rain-related incidents.

Nanded district reported substantial rainfall in 45 revenue circles, causing significant agricultural damage and the death of 25 animals. The relentless rain prompted the opening of multiple dam gates, releasing excess water into the Godavari and Manar rivers. Hingoli district recorded average rainfall of 141.70 mm, with substantial property and livestock losses, including 77 cowsheds.

Officials have assured a comprehensive crop loss survey once the weather stabilizes. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing, with local authorities closely monitoring the situation. Despite severe weather conditions, district guardians and officials visited affected areas to assess the damage and coordinate relief efforts.
