Surat Leads National Rankings in Air Quality Improvement
Surat has been ranked as the leading city in India for air quality improvements, surpassing Jabalpur and Agra. The National Clean Air City Awards were presented by the Union Environment Ministry during Swachh Vayu Survekshan 2024. The awards highlight significant efforts to reduce air pollution and improve urban living conditions.

Surat has emerged as the top major city in India for air quality improvements, followed closely by Jabalpur and Agra, according to the Union Environment Ministry's 'National Clean Air City' Awards presented at the Swachh Vayu Survekshan 2024 in Jaipur.
The awards, which were part of a national workshop held in celebration of the 'International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies,' recognized cities for significant strides in combating air pollution.
In addition to major cities, Firozabad, Amravati, and Jhansi topped the rankings among cities with populations between three lakh and 10 lakh, while Raebareli, Nalgonda, and Nalagarh led among smaller cities with populations under three lakh.
