Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad staged a protest on Wednesday against the recent removal of a bus stand near Hampanakatte by the City Corporation.
The protesters demanded immediate reconstruction of the bus stand at its original location, citing inconvenience for students from various educational institutions, hospitals, and the general public.
During the demonstration, students unexpectedly entered the road, prompting the police to use mild lathicharge to manage the situation. They submitted a request to the Mangalore Tahsildar for a swift resolution and claimed that the general public is forced to endure harsh weather conditions while waiting for buses.
City Corporation officials defended the removal, stating that the bus shelter hindered the free flow of traffic in the area.
