Heavy rainfall on Friday led to severe waterlogging and traffic congestion in several areas of Gurugram, notably Hero Honda chowk, Rajiv chowk, and IFFCO chowk. The downpour caused traffic to crawl for about three kilometers on both the main and service lanes of the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway.
Old Gurugram areas like Sadar Bazar, Gurdwara Road, and Old Delhi Road also experienced traffic jams that lasted until late evening. A senior traffic police official noted that vehicular movement was particularly choked near the Sirhaul border, with efforts underway to manage the traffic flow.
According to district administration reports, Gurugram received 46 mm of rain by 5:30 PM, with some areas like Wazirabad recording over 56 mm. The heavy rain forced residents to stay indoors and reschedule weekend plans, as subways for non-motorized transport were closed. Social media buzzed with residents posting about the waterlogged conditions, questioning the city's infrastructure.
