The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has launched a major crackdown on defaulters of water bills in the municipal area. In December, the civic body disconnected 2,606 tap connections and seized 411 motor pumps due to non-payment.
The Water Supply Department also sealed 73 pump rooms and issued notices to 2,330 defaulters as part of efforts to recover pending dues. The aggressive steps underscore TMC's resolve to enforce payment compliance.
From April to December 2024, the TMC successfully recovered Rs 77.98 crore in water bill arrears through its 'Dhadak' campaign, aimed at ensuring accountability and prompt payment of utility bills.
