In a significant stride toward sustainability, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) embarked on a mission to achieve complete solar energy adoption by 2026. This was announced during its first meeting following the Delhi Assembly elections, emphasizing substantial civic improvements, including 9,000 new water connections to benefit residents across 34 JJ clusters.

NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal highlighted plans for solar panel installations on all rooftops within the council's jurisdiction, with a decision expected in subsequent meetings. The council intends to offer subsidies, matching those of the central government, to promote solar energy initiatives, aiming for self-sustainability.

Other measures include expanding night sweeping, strict anti-encroachment operations, and CCTV surveillance. Recruitment updates focus on improved rules for various cadres and addressing staff shortages. Commitment to civic infrastructure and employee welfare remains a cornerstone, aligning with broader national goals for a developed India by 2047.
