The Dharavi Redevelopment Project has marked a significant milestone, eclipsing previous survey efforts from 2007-08, according to officials. With over 63,000 tenements reviewed, the current survey extends beyond earlier benchmarks focusing solely on ground-floor structures.
The Slum Rehabilitation Authority typically considers only ground-floor occupants eligible for free housing, but the latest survey also includes upper-floor structures, indicating a broader commitment to housing all residents of Asia's largest slum.
Navbharat Mega Developers Private Limited (NMDPL) is gearing up to construct nearly 1.5 lakh tenements to accommodate the expanded vertical growth to G+2 levels. While residents are actively taking part in the redevelopment process, those who have not yet participated are urged to do so to avoid missing out on this transformative opportunity.
