The air quality situation in Haryana reached alarming levels, with several areas falling into the 'very poor' category. Bahadurgarh recorded the most troubling Air Quality Index (AQI), hitting 358 by 8 am, as per data from the Central Pollution Control Board.
Other areas in Haryana also reported high AQI levels, such as Jind with 350, and Gurugram's Sector 51 and Vikas Sadan, marking 348 and 325 respectively. The concerning trend continued in Rohtak with an AQI of 343, Bhiwani at 307, and figures between 225 to 296 in areas like Faridabad, Kaithal, and Sirsa.
Punjab also faced air quality issues, with cities like Amritsar and Jalandhar recording AQIs of 212 and 242, respectively, and Ludhiana at 268. The AQI scale categorizes values over 300 as 'very poor', highlighting significant environmental challenges in the region.
