Cyclone Ditwah, a severe cyclonic storm, is on track to approach the southwest Bay of Bengal near Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and South Andhra Pradesh by November 30, the meteorological department announced on Friday. Positioned 320 km southeast of Karaikal, it is moving north-northwestwards.
Expected to skim the Sri Lankan coast and barrel towards key Indian coasts, the cyclone poses a threat to these regions with potential heavy rainfall and strong winds.
In light of the impending weather threat, authorities in Tamil Nadu and surrounding areas have issued warnings for local populations to remain vigilant. Fishermen have been advised against venturing out to sea, and district collectors are urged to prepare for possible evacuation or rescue operations as needed.
