A massive fire erupted at the Swagata Square Complex in Guwahati, engulfing a shopping mall and SBI's premium branches. The Indian Air Force, Indian Army, and Guwahati Refinery water tenders have been mobilized to contain the blaze, which continues after over 38 hours, officials reported on Thursday.

The inferno prompted the deployment of over 25 fire tenders from nearby districts, alongside the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) employing advanced smoke-reduction technology. Initial reports indicate that the fire began on the second floor and rapidly ascended, spreading smoke throughout the building.

Kamrup Metropolitan District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan stated that while initial audits cleared the building, a thorough investigation by the Fire & Emergency Services Department will determine accountability. Only one firefighter sustained minor injuries, and an official cause for the fire has yet to be established.
