A battery from an electric two-wheeler exploded while being charged in a flat in Diva, near Thane, causing a fire, officials reported on Monday.
The blaze, which began after 4 PM in the Siddhant Regency Building No. 1, caused extensive damage to the property, but fortunately, no injuries were reported, according to Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Disaster Management Cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation.
The fire severely damaged the living room, destroying the sofa, furniture, and electrical wiring. Firefighters managed to bring the situation under control and fully extinguished the flames by 4:40 PM.
