A 35-year-old man was viciously assaulted in South Delhi's Saket area early Wednesday morning after he intervened to protect a woman from harassment by four men. The victim, identified as Mukesh, confronted the assailants who were reportedly inebriated and behaving inappropriately towards a 27-year-old female resident. His actions led to a violent retaliation by the group.
Mukesh, a resident of Sangam Vihar, suffered significant injuries including punches, kicks, and brick attacks to his face, chest, and abdomen. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, followed by advanced treatment at AIIMS Trauma Centre. The attack was captured on video and widely circulated online, prompting swift police action.
Four men have been arrested thanks to CCTV footage analysis and identification efforts by the Mehrauli police station. The accused — Vishal Rawat, Jatin, Sonu, and Vivek — remain in custody. This case underscores ongoing concerns about safety and accountability on the streets of Delhi.
