The Delhi government is set to deploy 500 new electric buses on city roads this Sunday. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the plan during a foundation stone ceremony for development projects worth Rs 400 crore in the Matiala constituency, West Delhi.
Gupta highlighted Delhi's achievement as the city with the highest number of electric buses in India, with the total number projected to reach 4,000 following this deployment. The government aims to expand the fleet further to 11,000 in the next two years, ensuring that e-buses are accessible across all corners of the city.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the allocation of significant development funds to Matiala, focusing on the revival of rural areas. She commended local leaders for their efforts in addressing longstanding issues under the new BJP administration, which sanctioned projects worth Rs 1,700 crore.
