The Maharashtra government has ordered an inquiry into alleged irregularities in the land tender process for project-affected persons in Mumbai's Malad area. The announcement, made by Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal, halts any further action until the investigation concludes.
The inquiry, led by an additional chief secretary, follows a calling attention notice by Aslam Shaikh of Congress and supplementary questions by BJP members alleging undue Transferable Development Rights and unwarranted premium rates in the land allocation, hinting at possible corruption.
Despite the accusations of irregularities in the Project Affected Persons housing project, Misal stated that the tender process adhered to the prescribed four-stage payment system, insisting there were no deviations from the approved Development Plan 2034 and asserting transparency throughout.
