Unseasonal heavy rain lashed Beed district on Friday, causing significant damage to property and agriculture, according to local officials. Tin roofs of approximately 40-50 homes were blown away by powerful winds accompanying the storm.
Villages such as Walipur, Ghatjawla, and Jalwa Tanda experienced extensive damage, with some house walls and cattle sheds collapsing. Numerous trees were uprooted, and crops were destroyed, adding to the woes of local farmers.
Chandrakant Shelke, Beed's tehsildar, reported that initial assessments of the damage would commence on Saturday. Local farmers are anticipating severe financial losses, given the rarity of such intense rainfall during April in recent decades.
