Construction of the Mukarba underpass in north Delhi is 98% complete and is set to open by the end of this month, according to Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh. The Public Works Department has finished most of the project, and only final touches remain. Singh made these remarks during a recent inspection of the site.

Designed to alleviate congestion in the often-clogged Mukarba area, the project includes three tunnels catering to different types of traffic: two-wheelers, pedestrians, and four-wheel vehicles. This development is set to provide a direct route between Badli, Rohini, Azadpur, and Jahangirpuri, easing the burden on Mukarba Chowk interchange.

The underpass is expected to accommodate up to 15,800 vehicles daily, significantly improving traffic flow and reducing travel times by up to 10 minutes per vehicle. Notably, the project is also projected to result in a significant environmental impact, saving around 58,000 liters of fuel and reducing 135 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
