The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for five districts in the Jammu region. Residents of Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Reasi, and Udhampur will face hot and dry weather, with the potential for heatwave conditions from April 26 to 27.

The department has advised people in affected areas to avoid exposure to heat during peak hours and to stay well-hydrated to prevent heat-related illnesses. In contrast, the Kashmir region is anticipated to experience predominantly pleasant and dry conditions.

However, light rain or thunderstorms may occur in some areas of Kashmir over the next 48 hours, with gusty winds or hailstorms possible towards the evening on April 27 and 28. Temperatures in Kashmir are currently mild, with maximums between 17-22 degrees Celsius and nighttime lows around nine degrees Celsius.
