Reliance Industries has commenced the production of its first batch of 200 megawatt-peak (MWp) high-efficiency solar modules from the Jamnagar green energy site in Gujarat, officially kickstarting its New Energy business for the fiscal year 2025-26.

The Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex in Jamnagar, covering 5,000 acres, aims to create a comprehensive clean energy ecosystem with solar modules, battery systems, green hydrogen, and bio-energy. The initial solar modules boast of 10% higher energy yield and 25% lower degradation compared to current industry norms.

Reliance's solar manufacturing capacity is set to reach 10 gigawatt-peak (GWp) annually, with future expansions to 20 GWp. Additionally, its battery energy storage system giga-factory is approaching completion, targeting 40 gigawatt-hours (GWh) annually, with plans for a 100 GWh capacity. Green hydrogen production is also underway, with a goal of 3 million metric tonnes per year by 2032.

Moreover, Reliance is establishing a substantial renewable hub in Kutch, Gujarat. The aim is to produce 55 MWp of solar modules and 150 megawatt-hours of battery storage daily, while potentially supplying 10% of India's power demand in the next decade. The company has invested Rs 75,000 crore in this platform, promising significant green job creation and reduced fossil fuel dependency.
