Kazakhstan's Tengiz Oil Field Faces Production Drop After Accident

Oil production at Kazakhstan's largest oil field, Tengiz, has sharply decreased due to an accident on May 26, according to industry sources.

The current output stands at between 5,000 and 10,000 metric tons, a significant drop from the usual 125,000 tons. This reduction has also impacted supplies to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, a key export route for Kazakh oil, the sources revealed.

Efforts are underway to normalize production levels, with a gradual restoration anticipated within a week. Chevron, which leads the Tengiz field operations, has refrained from commenting on the situation.
