Norwegian Offshore Workers Threaten Strike Amid Wage Disputes
Nearly eight percent of Norwegian offshore oil and gas workers are planning to strike from June 5 if state-mediated wage discussions fail. A potential strike could potentially affect Norway's petroleum output. Approximately 617 workers represented by trade unions are preparing for initial strike actions.
Nearly eight percent of Norwegian offshore oil and gas workers are poised to strike starting June 5, should wage negotiations led by the state not reach a resolution, according to labour union data released on Monday.
It remains uncertain whether such a strike would disrupt the country's petroleum output, a significant concern for the industry.
The initial wave of the strike could involve around 617 workers out of the approximately 8,100 in Norway's offshore production sector, organized by trade unions Styrke, Lederne, and Safe, based on information from the government-appointed mediator's office.
