Morocco to invest in feasibility studies of Climate Investment Plan for the Sahel region

King of Morocco, Mohammed VI has declared on February 25 that the country would finance the feasibility studies to finalize the Climate Investment Plan for the Sahel region.
The announcement has been done at the first Conference of the Climate Commission for the Sahel Region that opened on Monday in Niger’s capital Niamey. The Sovereign highlighted the importance of the Climate Investment Plan for the Sahel region and its Priority Regional Program, which will complete the vital projects underway, that was announced on the sidelines of the COP22, held in Marrakech in November 2016, as reported by The North African Post.
According to the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, the Climate Commission for the Sahel Region can count on the Climate Change Competence Center of Morocco, particularly in terms of capacity building for its members. Sahel today is facing the tremendous effects of climatic disruption and the major challenge is to manage the climate issue in an effective manner while seeking to achieve socioeconomic development objectives and respond to security imperatives.
