Chennai acute water crisis continues after brief respite due to rains

Residents were hopeful after heavy rains lashed Chennai after a gap of several months, but the relief soon got vanished and residents have started taking on streets once again in search of water.

Tamil Nadu has been reeling under acute water stress for the past several months as Chennai's Porur Lake, one of the main sources of water has reached its lowest level. Moreover, scorching heat and delayed monsoon have further exacerbated the situation.
