Kingborough Council in Tasmania has officially declared a climate emergency. The non-governmental environmental organization Greenpeace says that they are the 26th local Australian jurisdiction to do so.

Sydney had also declared climate emergency last month after the city council voted to acknowledge that climate change posed a serious risk to the people.
