The Japanese privately developed sounding rocket MOMO-F4 has "safely splashed down" into the ocean due to early engine shut down shortly after takeoff, the Japanese space company Interstellar Technologies (IST) said on Saturday. The company had successfully launched Momo-F3 in May this year.

The launch of MOMO-F4 was initially scheduled for 20 July but had to be canceled due to technical problems. The small rocket is 10-meter long with a diameter of 50 centimeters.

MOMO-F4's launch was also streamed live on social media but the crash was not a part of the stream.

Here is a part from the live stream:

The press conference on the launch of MOMO-F4 will be held soon.
