Ethiopia is planning to pump out a massive amount of 11 million euros in order to protect the environment, promote health and family planning.

Ethiopia Population, Health and Environment Consortium has taken the decision to invest such amount to ensure sustainable development in Ethiopia by promoting and enhancing the integration of population, health and environment through multi-sectoral approaches, which the organization is specialized for.

According to Negash Teklu, Ethiopia Population, Health, and Environment Consortium’s Managing Director and Founder, the organization wants to focus on the Rift Valley areas in the next five years that are currently experiencing huge environmental degradation. The project areas to be covered by PHE and other partner organizations includes – Ziway, Abiajata, Langano, Hawassa and Guruga highlands, as reported by NewBusinessEthiopia.com.

PHE consortium has been constantly providing support to the implementations of Ethiopia’s development plans in the last couple of years including the growth and transformation plan, water and sanitation, primary health care, family planning, HIV / AIDS prevention, malaria, climate change and related activities. The organization is currently having 20 employees and 66 members of several organizations and is operating with 50 to 60-million-birr budget. The organization intends to support the development of Ethiopia and contribute to the success of country’s developmental plans including growth and transformation plan II, climate resilient green economy, and the sustainable development goals.
