Indians release RHP McAllister

The Cleveland Indians released right-handed reliever Zach McAllister on Wednesday, after designating him for assignment last week.

McAllister, 30, was moved off the roster on Friday to make room for the return of reliever Andrew Miller.

McAllister was 1-2 with a 4.97 ERA in 41 appearances out of the bullpen this season. He had been with the Indians since 2011 and went 29-35 with a 3.99 ERA in 277 appearances (68 starts).

The team also activated right-hander Evan Marshall from the 10-day disabled list and optioned him to Triple-A Columbus.

Marshall, 28, has been on the DL with inflammation in his right elbow. He has a 7.71 ERA in 10 relief appearances this season, his first with the Indians after three years with the Arizona Diamondbacks and one with the Seattle Mariners.
