The Colorado Rockies acquired catcher Drew Butera and cash considerations from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for left-hander Jerry Vasto, both teams announced on Friday.

Butera, who was the backup to Royals star Salvador Perez, has a .201 career average with 18 homers in 487 games over nine seasons with the Minnesota Twins, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels, and Royals. He joined Kansas City in 2015.
The Royals recalled catcher Cam Gallagher from Triple-A Omaha. The club also activated outfielder Brian Goodwin (groin) off the disabled list.
