The Arizona Cardinals and State Farm have agreed on an 18-year naming rights commitment that results in the team's home venue becoming State Farm Stadium, the Cardinals announced Tuesday.
The Cardinals' home venue has been known as University of Phoenix Stadium since its inaugural season of 2006. The team expects much of its rebranding to be in place by its season opener against the Washington Redskins on Sunday.
The University of Phoenix will remain connected to the Cardinals as the team's official education partner.
"We were intent on finding a relationship that was an ideal fit with our organization and this community in terms of values, priorities, and culture," Cardinals president Michael Bidwill said in a team release. "With State Farm, we absolutely did that. While this is a comprehensive marketing agreement, there will be a major focus on community programs that will have a positive impact on our state. State Farm is one of the most respected and recognizable brands in the world and Phoenix is fortunate to be one of its three hub markets."
State Farm Stadium will play host to Super Bowl LVII in 2023, the NCAA men's basketball Final Four in 2024 and a College Football Playoff semifinal game three times between now and 2026.
The news comes a week after State Farm and the NBA's Atlanta Hawks announced a 20-year partnership that includes naming rights for the team's arena.
