Ben Roethlisberger practiced with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the first time this week on Friday, making him the likely starting quarterback Sunday when the Kansas City Chiefs visit Heinz Field.

Roethlisberger missed Wednesday and Thursday practices with an elbow injury but worked with the starting offense on Friday. Roethlisberger declined to comment and head coach Mike Tomlin provided no additional details.

Roethlisberger was intercepted three times and lost two fumbles in a 21-21 tie in Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns.

Backup quarterback Josh Dobbs took the first-team reps Wednesday and Thursday, Tomlin said. Dobbs said he will be ready "if my number is called."

Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster said he expects Roethlisberger to play.
