Jake Butt injures left knee during practice

Denver Broncos tight end Jake Butt injured his left knee during practice on Thursday, head coach Vance Joseph told reporters.

The severity of the injury is unclear, but Butt was officially listed as a limited participant. The Athletic reports Butt suffered a non-contact injury during the team's walkthrough practice and is undergoing an MRI exam.

Butt, 23, missed his entire rookie season in 2017 after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in his final college game for Michigan on Dec. 30, 2016. It was his second torn ACL in his right knee after he had the same injury in February of 2014.

Through three games this year, Butt ranks third on the team with eight grabs for 85 yards. He has yet to find the end zone.

Butt was widely pegged as a first- or second-round pick coming out of Michigan before his second torn ACL. The Broncos took him in the fifth round of the 2017 draft.
