Seattle Seahawks receiver Doug Baldwin proclaimed himself ready to return for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals after missing consecutive games due to a right knee injury.
Baldwin sprained the medial collateral ligament in the season opener against the Denver Broncos. He has practiced the past two days and hopes to be cleared by team doctors.
"Again, that's going to be their call," Baldwin told reporters Thursday. "There's a lot of things that go into it, obviously the precautionary reasons of making sure that I'm healthy fully so that I can go for the rest of the season, not just this game. And I get that.
"But as a competitor and somebody that hasn't missed games that often, who had an 89-game streak, I feel like I know my body pretty well, so I feel like I'm ready to go."
It hasn't been an easy time for the 30-year-old Baldwin. He also missed a month of training camp after an injury to his left knee.
Just as that knee got healthy, Baldwin hurt the right knee in the first half of the opener against the Broncos.
"I knew it was a serious injury, but just again, being out for so long prior to that game I wanted to do everything I could to go back in and I did that, realized that it wasn't getting better, so I had to pull myself, unfortunately," Baldwin said. "It's just the nature of the business but the reasoning for going back out there was really just the competitive nature in my mind."
Baldwin caught 29 touchdown passes over the past three seasons. He fell 9 yards shy of his third straight 1,000-yard season last year.
He has 443 career receptions for 5,945 yards and 44 touchdowns since beginning his NFL career with the Seahawks in 2011.
