A broken finger will sideline Los Angeles Kings forward Dustin Brown indefinitely, the team announced Sunday.

Brown, 33, was hurt Saturday night in the Kings' final preseason game against the Anaheim Ducks. The injury occurred when he was hit by a shot from teammate Anze Kopitar.

Brown has been a constant for the Kings since 2005. In that span, he has missed just 18 games in total and played in all 82 regular-season games five times. He has appeared in 85 playoff games with the Kings.

Brown hasn't missed more than four games in any season.

The New York native is coming off a stellar season in 2017-18 when he scored a career-high 61 points on 28 goals and 33 assists. Brown was the captain of the Los Angeles teams that won the Stanley Cup in 2012 and 2014.

The Kings begin the 2018-19 season at home Friday night against the San Jose Sharks.
