Newly-appointed Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has begun his tenure by focusing on India's Olympic prospects. On Thursday, in a crucial meeting with IOA President P T Usha, Mandaviya assessed the nation's readiness for the upcoming Paris Games.

Having taken charge of the ministry on Tuesday, Mandaviya replaces Anurag Thakur. The meeting, which lasted over an hour, was attended by key figures including the newly appointed Minister of State for Sports Raksha Khadse, Sports Secretary Sujata Chaturvedi, and Sports Authority of India Director General Sandip Pradhan.

In his first media address, Mandaviya stated, ‘I visited the IOA officials today to understand our preparation for the Paris Olympics. The government is committed to providing all possible support.’ P.T. Usha noted that India's Olympic contingent could exceed 100 athletes this year, emphasizing the comprehensive support provided to sportspersons to boost medal prospects.
