India Eyes 2036 Olympics with Unique Sports Bid

India's sports administrators are gearing up to lobby vigorously at the upcoming Paris Olympics to enhance the country's chances of hosting the 2036 Games. They're pushing for the inclusion of indigenous sports like yoga, kho kho, and kabaddi if their ambitious bid is successful.

The Sports Authority of India's Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) presented a comprehensive report to new Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, outlining measures needed for a successful bid. The report identified six disciplines, including yoga, kho kho, kabaddi, chess, T20 cricket, and squash for inclusion in the 2036 Olympics should India secure hosting rights.

''We are ahead in our Olympic bid preparations, but extensive lobbying with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) during the Paris Games is crucial,'' said a senior MOC member. The final decision on hosting rights will come after the IOC elects a new president next year.
