The UK's new Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Lisa Nandy, has laid out the Labour Party government's vision for nation-building through sports achievements. Nandy emphasized the importance of creating a healthier nation by building on the success of England’s national teams, the Three Lions and the Lionesses.

Joined by Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Prince William at the UEFA Euro championship final in Berlin, Nandy praised the diversity of the football squads and their inspirational roles. She underscored the Labour government's commitment to making sports accessible to all children, fostering talent, and strengthening grassroots football clubs.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) aims to host UEFA Euro 2028 and enhance community football facilities. An expert-led review of PE in schools is planned to ensure inclusive sports education. Legislation to reduce school uniform costs, thereby increasing sports participation, is also on the agenda.
