In a late change to their lineup, the West Indies cricket team has added Caribbean fast bowler Akeem Jordan to their squad for the upcoming third Test against England. The decision, announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday, comes after Jeremiah Louis was ruled out due to a hamstring injury sustained during the second Test at Trent Bridge.
Jordan, who has already joined the team and begun training at Edgbaston, has yet to make his debut in Test cricket but has represented the West Indies in two One Day Internationals. The 28-year-old has an impressive first-class record, having taken 67 wickets in 19 matches at an average of 24.1, including two five-wicket hauls.
Louis, despite being sidelined, will continue to travel with the team to receive treatment. The West Indies squad, which also includes pace options such as Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, and Jayden Seales, faces a daunting challenge as they trail England 2-0 in the three-match series. The final Test, set to begin on Friday, will see the West Indies seeking redemption after their crushing 241-run defeat in the second Test, despite a promising start that saw them take a 41-run lead in the first innings.
