Sri Lanka leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay made headlines with a stunning six-wicket haul in his maiden one-day International, leading his team to a 32-run victory over India in the second match of the three-game series in Colombo on Sunday.

Sri Lanka, having chosen to bat first, faced early troubles against India's seamer Mohammed Siraj, who dismissed opener Pathum Nissanka on the very first ball. However, Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis steadied the innings with a valuable 74-run partnership. The team posted a total of 240-9 thanks to crucial contributions from lower-order batters Dunith Wellalage (39) and Kamindu Mendis (40).

India's pursuit appeared promising with captain Rohit Sharma scoring a swift 64 off 44 balls. However, Vandersay's expert bowling dismantled India's batting line-up, concluding their chase at 208 in 42.2 overs. Aided by disciplined fielding and skipper Charith Asalanka’s three-wicket effort, Sri Lanka clinched a significant win. The series is now poised for a thrilling decider, as Sri Lanka seeks to secure the series on Wednesday.
