Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic has captured his first-ever Olympic gold medal, defeating Spain's Carlos Alcaraz in a tense men's singles final at the Paris Olympics on Sunday. 

Expressing his elation, Djokovic told ANI, 'God is great. Thank God. I am super proud, super happy.' The champion celebrated holding the Serbian flag with pride. 

Djokovic, who now has a staggering 24 Grand Slam titles, dropped to his knees in tears after securing the game point. Amid chants of 'Djokovic' resonating in the stadium, he climbed the stairs to share the moment with his family. His opponent Alcaraz, who lost 7-6, 7-6, settled for silver. 

With 10 Australian Open titles, three French Opens, seven Wimbledon championships, and four U.S. Open titles, Djokovic now joins the ranks with an Olympic gold, making him the most decorated player in modern tennis history. His accolades also include 40 ATP Masters titles and seven ATP Finals championships, outshining rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. 

The showdown with Alcaraz was a nail-biter, with both athletes showcasing their strengths. Djokovic excelled in precision while Alcaraz impressed with quick, powerful shots. The match saw multiple breakpoints, aggressive rallies, and a near-seamless performance by Djokovic, sealing his triumph in two tiebreak sets.
