Indian golfer Shubhankar Sharma has opened up about his experience of playing at the Paris Olympics, expressing hopes of being part of the next edition.

Alongside compatriot Gaganjeet Bhullar, Sharma finished the fourth round of the men's individual event with a T40 finish at 283. Bhullar ended up at T45 with 285.

Golf returned to the Olympics in 2016 after a hiatus since 1904. Reflecting on the experience, Sharma said, 'It was amazing, a really nice experience. The Olympics is the pinnacle for us. It's an honor to be part of Team India.'

Despite not winning a medal, Sharma made history by surpassing Anirban Lahiri's previous best of tied-42nd at the Tokyo Games. 'A lot of things have to come together in that week for you to play. It wasn’t our week, but the main takeaway is the experience,' Sharma added.

Sharma hopes to make the team again in the next Olympics and perform better. Looking ahead, India's women golfers, Diksha Dagar and Aditi Ashok, are set to compete. Sharma has high hopes for them.
