Wrestler Antim Panghal is staring at a possible three-year ban from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) after trying to use her accreditation card to get her sister into the athletes' village, sources told PTI on Thursday.

Panghal, who exited the Olympics after losing her first bout in the women's 53kg category, has drawn widespread controversy for her actions, causing embarrassment to the Indian contingent. The IOA is deliberating on disciplinary measures for all involved, including coaches.

''First, we need to ensure that she reaches home. The decision will be announced only after she reaches India,'' a source from the Indian contingent revealed. Panghal and her support staff are expected back in Delhi after French authorities flagged the breach.

Panghal, in a conversation with PTI before her flight home, stated, “I did not intend to do anything wrong. I was unwell and there was confusion.” She further explained her side of the story, admitting she went to the police station for accreditation verification but denying rumors about her coaches' misconduct.
