Former Australian skipper and batter Ricky Ponting on Tuesday opened up about the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia, stating that it would be a 'competitive series.' Scheduled to start on November 22 at Perth Stadium, it marks the return of the five-match format.

In the latest episode of The ICC Review, Ponting remarked that the Australians have much to prove on home soil after their last two series losses to India. 'Australia has a point to prove against India, especially following the last two series here,' Ponting noted.

Highlighting the significance of the five-Test structure, Ponting expressed confidence in Australia, predicting a 3-1 series victory despite potential weather interruptions. The action-packed series includes Tests in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney, concluding on January 7.
