In a tribute to veteran goalkeeper P R Sreejesh, Hockey India has decided to retire his No.16 jersey at the senior level following his significant contributions, including a second consecutive Olympic bronze.

Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh confirmed that the No.16 jersey will no longer be issued to any senior team members, while it remains in use for junior teams.

Furthermore, Sreejesh, 36, will assume the position of junior national coach, ensuring his legacy continues as he grooms the next generation of players.
