Indian Olympians Honored by PM Modi After Paris Games Triumph
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the Indian contingent returning from the Paris Olympics, celebrating their six-medal haul. Shooter Manu Bhaker and the men's hockey team, among others, were present. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met with the Indian contingent that recently returned from the Paris Olympics. The contingent, which clinched six medals, included history-making shooter Manu Bhaker who proudly displayed the pistol used to win two bronze medals.
The Indian men's hockey team, earning its second consecutive bronze in Paris, gifted Modi a stick signed by all its players. Among those present were the newly-retired PR Sreejesh and team captain Harmanpreet Singh, who posed with the PM and their bronze medals.
Bhaker, the first Indian athlete to win two medals in one Olympic edition, elaborated on her winning performances in the 10m air pistol events. Additionally, medalists like Sarabjot Singh and Aman Sehrawat, interacted with the PM. Wrestler Sehrawat presented Modi with a jersey bearing his signature.
Neeraj Chopra, silver medalist in javelin, is currently in Germany for a medical consultation and potential European competitions. Modi also addressed and interacted with other Olympians, including Lakshya Sen, Lovlina Borgohain, and Saikhom Mirabai Chanu. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Indian Olympic Association president PT Usha were among those in attendance during the Independence Day ceremony at the Red Fort.
