German attacking midfielder Marco Reus has made headlines by signing a two-and-a-half-year deal with LA Galaxy, as announced by the Major League Soccer (MLS) club on Thursday.
Reus, 35, bids farewell to Borussia Dortmund after 12 fruitful years, joining the American side as a free agent. His final appearance for the German club came in their Champions League final loss to Real Madrid in June.
'For Marco, a two-time Bundesliga Footballer of the Year, to join the Galaxy after spending his entire career in Germany is a testament to the project we are continuing to build at the club,' said LA Galaxy General Manager Will Kuntz. Reus' impressive record includes 170 goals in 429 matches for Dortmund, in addition to 15 goals in 48 appearances for the German national team. According to Galaxy coach Greg Vanney, Reus is a 'proven winner and leader whose talent and vision for the game will seamlessly integrate into the group.' Reus will stay with LA Galaxy until the conclusion of the 2026 season as the team aims for playoff success.
