Mauricio Pochettino and the U.S. Soccer Federation are negotiating a deal for Pochettino to become the men's national team coach, according to a source familiar with the talks.

The former Tottenham, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain coach has agreed in principle to take over the U.S. team, although the contract is not yet completed, the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

If finalized, Pochettino would replace Gregg Berhalter less than 22 months before the U.S. hosts the 2026 World Cup, becoming the first foreign-born coach since Jurgen Klinsmann led the team from 2011-2016.
