Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan made a striking return to domestic red-ball cricket, scoring a century in Jharkhand's Buchi Babu tournament match against Madhya Pradesh. Kishan hammered an impressive 114 off 107 deliveries, featuring five boundaries and 10 sixes, on the second day of the game.
This was Kishan's first first-class game since India's second Test match against the West Indies in July 2023, where he managed innings of 25 and 52* runs. His exclusion from the BCCI central contract in February this year was due to his minimal participation in domestic red-ball cricket. Kiddush has appeared in two Test matches for India, accumulating 78 runs in three innings.
Last November, Kishan played his final international match against Australia in a T20I, where he was dismissed for a duck. His return to competitive cricket was marked in the DY Patil T20 Cup 2024, representing the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). During this tournament, Kishan showed glimpses of his skills with a 19-run knock off 12 balls and a stumping. Kishan also contributed significantly in the 2024 IPL, with 320 runs in 14 matches at an average of 22.85 and a strike rate of over 148.
In T20I cricket, Kishan has made 32 appearances, scoring 796 runs at an average of 25.7, with his best score being 89. In ODIs, he has featured in 27 matches, amassing 933 runs at an average of 42.4, including a top score of 210*. Kishan's domestic and international performances underscore his prowess in various formats of the game.
