The Indian Racing League (IRL) is set to commence on August 24, featuring six teams and a blend of Indian and international drivers. Among the prominent names are Akhil Rabindra, who won the inaugural title in 2022, and Neel Jani, known for his World Endurance Championship and 24 Hours of Le Mans victories.
Akhil made headlines in 2019 as the only Asian selected for Aston Martin’s racing academy. This year, the IRL will also feature female racers, highlighting the diversity in the sport. South Africa's Raoul Hyman and his partner Sohil Shah, recent winners of the 2023 Car Championship, are set to return as formidable competitors.
Younger talents like Ruhaan Alva, the youngest race winner last year, and Formula 4 Indian Championship standouts Shahan Ali Mohsin, Rishon Rajeev, and debutant Danish prodigy Julius Dinesen will also join the league. The event, comprising five rounds, starts at Madras International Circuit and includes India’s first-ever night race at the Chennai Formula Racing Circuit.
