Six-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez clinched the Aragon Grand Prix sprint title from pole position on Saturday, earning cheers from his passionate home fans. Jorge Martin of Prima Pramac Racing secured second place, which allowed him to retake the world championship lead.

Francesco Bagnaia, a two-time MotoGP champion, came into the Alcaniz weekend with a five-point lead over Martin. However, after qualifying third, Bagnaia fell back several positions, finishing in ninth place. Martin now has a three-point lead and a chance to extend it in Sunday's race.

“It was a fantastic race after the crash in qualifying made it difficult to regain confidence,” Martin said. “I tried to follow Marc. I thought I could do something at the end, but it was impossible. Congrats to him, but I feel confident about tomorrow.”

This sprint win marked 31-year-old Marquez’s first since switching from Honda to Ducati this season. “My start was a bit stiff, but then I settled into a better rhythm,” Marquez said. “The most important day is tomorrow, but today’s win feels great. Racing in front of these amazing fans is always special.”

Fellow Spaniard and Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rookie Pedro Acosta impressed by completing the podium. Marquez’s brother and teammate Alex improved to finish fourth, while Italian rider Enea Bastianini moved up several positions to secure seventh place.
